Altmar, Oswego County (WSYR-TV) – A 17-year-old has been charged with criminal mischief and grand larceny for allegedly breaking into and stealing trucks from a highway barn.
Robert Baker of Altmar was arrested and charged Tuesday afternoon.
The Oswego Co. Sheriff's Department says the alleged theft occurred on June 30th of last year.
Investigators claim Baker broke a window to get inside.
They say damage was caused to the rear end and top of a truck which was used to push a second truck through the barn and had an overhead door fall down on it.
Investigators estimate damage in excess of $22,000 was caused to the barn when a second truck was driven through the doors causing damage to the doors and damage to the front wall of the barn, which occurred as the second truck was being stolen from the barn.
Baker was arraigned in the Town of Albion Court and sent to the Oswego County Jail. He is scheduled to return to Town of Albion Court in early May.
The Sheriff's Department says the incident remains under investigation at this time.
