Man facing charges in several states will remain in Onondaga County
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A man who allegedly escaped from a Kentucky jail before being arrested in connection to a host of burglaries in the towns of Salina and Clay will face charges in Onondaga County before returning to the South.
Luis Dechoudens has a long history of trying to evade law enforcement.
Sheriff’s Deputies had to chase him through backyards in the village of North Syracuse before taking him into custody.
Once he was in custody, Deputies say Dechoudens tried to unlock his restraints and also damaged a wall in an interview room when he tried to escape from custody.
The Sheriff’s Office says they obtained fingerprints that revealed that Dechoudens was wanted for escaping from the Christian County Jail in Kentucky on July 17.
Dechoudens is the only person to successfully escape from the Christian County Jail since it opened in 1994.
He faces approximately 20 charges in Onondaga County, many of them felonies.
Once his case has been resolved in Onondaga County, he will return to either Tennessee or Kentucky.
According to a Kentucky publication, Dechoudens faces charges in both states.
