Cortland (WSYR-TV) -  Just as Jets fans headed to training practice Saturday morning, Cortland police were wrapping up an investigation.

A call for a "person down" after an altercation on 64 Main Street came in around 12:42 a.m.

Officers found a man on the sidewalk, unconscious and unresponsive.  Resuscitation efforts began as police waited for emergency medical personnel to arrive.

The victim, Robert V. Miller, 25, was taken to Cortland Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was listed in critical condition with a head injury.  Miller's last known address is in Cortland.

Amid heavy rain, police spent Saturday morning looking for suspects and witnesses.  They're asking anyone with information about the case to call investigators at 607-753-3001 ext. 0.
