Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A 24-year-old from the town of Clay admitted in court Thursday that he killed his father.

Herman Tolbert, Jr. pleaded guilty in state supreme court to first-degree manslaughter.

He stabbed his 68-year-old father Herman Tolbert, Sr.with a butcher knife on Aug. 4, 2011, at a home on Moses Drive in the town of Clay.

Sheriff’s Investigators said Tolbert had moved out several months before the incident. They say he broke into the family’s home and got into an argument with his father while his mother was away. After the incident, he drove off in his father’s vehicle.
