BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) - A man has been fatally shot by police and two officers have minor gunshot wounds after a shootout behind a Binghamton hotel.

Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski says the man who was shot and killed was staying at the Days Inn. Police say officers went to the hotel after receiving two separate calls, one saying a male guest was harassing staff and the other saying a shot was fired.

Police arrived at 2:15 a.m. Sunday to find a man behind the building. Police say the officers returned fire when the man started shooting.

The names of the man and the police officers were not released. Officials said more details would be provided at a news conference Monday afternoon.
