Man pleads guilty to planting fake bomb at Ithaca bank
Ithaca (WSYR-TV) -- An Ithaca man has admitted to planting a fake bomb in a busy downtown area.
37-year-old Matthew Whitney pleaded guilty Thursday to planting the fake bomb. Last October, a box outside of the Bank of America building in Ithaca, prompting an evacuation and a major police response.
Police later determined the box was not a threat. Whitney will be sentenced in March.
