Man who tried to run down Syracuse cop gets 4 years
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A man who struck a Syracuse police officer with a truck at a Cicero auto dealership has been sentenced.
Gavin Ballog will spend the next four years in prison for assault.
Syracuse Police say they were investigating a series of thefts of high-end rims and tires when a veteran officer encountered Ballog and three other men at Driver’s Village.
After the officer – seven-year veteran Matt Arduini – identified himself, Ballog drove into him.
Arduini fired two shots at the vehicle during the incident.
Ballog was initially charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and grand larceny.
