Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Slippery roads and lots of traveling the past few days has been a warning to many drivers to get their cars ready for winter. The demand for snow tires is way up and auto shops are busy trying to keep up with the demand.
“People say they can’t get into their driveway, can’t get out of their driver, but the big thing is safety – being able to stop, turn down a hill and being able to stay on the road and not end up in the bushes,” said Roger Forehand with Big 4 Tire.
There’s nothing like a little snow and another storm on the way to remind you that you’re car’s not ready for it.
Big 4 Tire has been busy with the last minute rush to get drivers ready for winter. They had more than 40 cars in getting snow tires just before the storm was going to hit on Wednesday.
It’s a much needed boost after a slow, winter last year.
“We do rely on that, in the tire business you will do 40 percent of your business from the first of October until the end of the year,” said Forehand.
Experts say if you’re getting snow tires, you should replace all four. Even if you just have front or real wheel drive, it’s safer to have four of the same tires.
