Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner says a common council amendment to put $2 million towards economic development will not be spent.

The money was a projected increase in sales tax revenue but Mayor Miner says the city will not spend money it doesn't have.

The common council hoped the revenue would go towards the city's seniors, neighborhoods, and children, helping save teaching assistant positions in the city schools.

Mayor Miner says she will sign the budget, but will not approve the "fiscally irresponsible" amendment.
