Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- It’s been an exciting and historic season for one young football team. So much so that Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner declared Friday “Valley Stallions Recognition Day.”

The Valley Stallions Pop Warner football team had only two losses this season and was given the chance to go to the National Championships at Disney World. They finished in the semi-finals.

“Opportunities like this come around only once in a lifetime, but like I said, our ultimate goal is to be right back here next year again…so you might be seeing us again,” said Head Coach Ken Thomas.

On Friday, it was all about celebrating their storybook season, dedication and hard work.
