Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse’s new top fire officials were announced by the mayor’s office on Tuesday.

Mayor Stephanie Miner announced on Tuesday that Paul Linnertz will take over as the new fire chief and Kent Young will become the new first deputy chief.

The city announced on Feb. 5 current chief Mark McLees and current deputy chief Charlie Duffy would retire in March.

Both Young and Linnertz have been with the department since 1985.

Linnertz is currently the deputy chief for administration.

Young is a district chief assigned to the city’s West Side.
