Cortlandville (WSYR-TV) - A search warrant paved the way for the Cortland County Drug Task Force to bust up a suspected meth lab.

On Friday at roughly 5:40 p.m., investigators arrived at a home on 4379 Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville to execute the warrant.

They found ingredients and equipment used to make methamphetamine, as well as an unspecified amount of the drug.

The discovery prompted calls to the Cortlandville Fire Department and the New York State Police Hazmat team to help at the scene.  Two children inside the home were referred to the Department of Social Services.

Police charged Benjamin A. Slamp, 43, of unlawfully manufacturing methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child.

Tammy L. Slamp, 42, who also lives in the home, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The couple was scheduled for an afternoon arraignment in the Town of Cortlandville Court.
