Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner announced on Wednesday that she will run for an additional term.

Last summer, Miner was named co-chairwoman of the New York State Democratic Party, leading to speculation that she may not seek a second term as mayor.

The 42-year-old Democrat says much has been accomplished in Syracuse during her three years in office, but she says the city still faces "formidable challenges."

The mayor made the announcement at Syracuse’s Inner Harbor.

Miner is scheduled to give her State of the City message on Jan. 24.
