Canastota (WSYR-TV) Two so-called mobile meth labs were discovered in the village of Canastota Monday just blocks from each other.

Village police tell Newschannel 9 they were called to a home on Spencer street in the village around 8:40 Monday morning. Callers told police a couple were engaged in domestic dispute while parked in the driveway of a house that didn’t belong to them. Police say they had stopped to use an outdoor water outlet to get water for a child in the car.

Canastota Police Chief James Zophy says "We uncovered a straw commonly used to ingest meth. We were also able to find some components of the meth lab that we saw inside the car. We recovered some liquid methamphetamine and an actual 1-pot meth lab.”

Police arrested Joshua A. Drummond, 23, 6578 Harp Rd., Canastota, and charged him with criminal possession of precursors to methamphetamine, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. He’s being held on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Also on Monday morning, state police discovered a mobile meth lab inside a car a few blocks away in the parking lot of the village pool. Troopers have not released any details of that case or details of any charges.
