SCHUYLER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 65-year-old woman has died from injuries suffered in a collision with a parolee fleeing from police in the Mohawk Valley.

State police say 24-year-old Daniel Conklin of Rochester sped through a school zone late Thursday morning in the village of Herkimer and fled from a village police officer attempting to pull him over.

Troopers say Conklin forced a woman sitting in his front seat out of the vehicle and continued driving into the neighboring town of Schuyler, where he collided with a car driven by 65-year-old Gail Pietruska of Frankfort. Pietruska died at a Syracuse hospital Thursday evening.

Conklin's companion and a passenger Pietruska's car suffered minor injuries.

Conklin is in stable condition. Troopers say he's being held on a parole violation while other charges are pending.
