Mother killed in crash; children seriously hurt

PLAINFIELD, NY (WSYR-TV) - New York State Police are investigating a two car crash in Otsego County that left one dead and four others with serious injuries.

State Police 22-year old Nicole Dukerich of Mohawk drove through a stop sign on County Route 18 in Plainfield Saturday afternoon. That's when she crashed into a Ford pick-up truck being driven by 36-year old Heather Simmons of Canastota.

Dukerich was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say her 3-year old son suffered serious injuries and is at Upstate Hospital in serious condition.

State Police tell us Simmons sustained multiple traumas and was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth's, where she is in serious condition.

Simmon's 12-year old daughter and her 13-year old friend were also in the pick-up truck. State Police say her daughter suffered a severe head injury and is at Upstate Hospital in critical condition.

Her friend who suffered multiple traumas is also at Upstate in serious condition.
