Photos from the scene of the fireBernhards Bay (WSYR-TV) – Numerous fire companies from four counties responded to the scene of a fire in Bernhards Bay on Thursday.
The units were called to the McIntosh Box and Pallet facility on Route 49 during the mid-afternoon. The fire burned for several hours before being put out around 6 p.m.
32 fire departments were called from Oswego, Madison, Oneida, and Onondaga counties.
According to McIntosh President Rich Huftalen, the building that caught fire was heavily damaged and half of the roof collapsed. He anticipates that his crews will continue to work out of two remaining buildings, while the ruined building is rebuilt. The facility employs about 53 workers.
Management anticipated that the workers would be back on the job Friday morning. They planned on putting workers at facilities in other parts of Central New York.
