Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The second week of the NCAA men's basketball tournament tips off Thursday night with four games, two of which will involve local teams.

Top-seed Kentucky takes on Ivy League champ Cornell in the East Regional at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse while in the West Regional at Salt Lake City, Syracuse plays Butler.

It was a historic day for Central New York basketball on Sunday as both Syracuse University and Cornell won their 2nd round NCAA tournament games, moving both teams on to the Sweet Sixteen.

Both local teams advanced to the round of 16 after a historic day Sunday, when Syracuse defeated Gonzaga in Buffalo, and Cornell dominated Wisconsin in Jacksonville.

The excitement for SU, however, was short lived. They lost to Butler 63-59 in Salt Lake City.

Cornell will play around 9:57 PM.
