NFL reaches $765 million settlement with retired players over head trauma
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The NFL reached a settlement with more than 4,500 retired players who accused the league of deliberately concealing the dangers of head trauma.
The NFL will pay $765 million to fund medical exams, concussion-related compensation and medical research for retired players and their families.
The league has made efforts to strengthen rules on governing player conduct on the field and has also added medical staff not associated with the teams.
The agreement still needs to be approved by the judge assigned to the case.
