Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Flood victims were able to sit back and relax Friday night after the New York Country Jam offered free tickets to residents of Herkimer, Oneida and Madison counties who were impacted by the floods.
Dan Rotach says his home in Vernon is still surrounded by flood damage.
"It's been hard, it's taken a lot of impact on the farmers," explained Rotach.
The lawn in front of Chevy Court filled as cover bands took the stage to sing some of country music’s catchiest songs.
In its second year, the Country Jam moved to a new location at the New York State Fairgrounds. It's not only a more centralized venue, but organizers are hoping the fairgrounds can help the event expand.
"It's another advantage of being at the fairgrounds, you have the room to do that - it has the infrastructure to be able to grow the event,” explained Tom Tarry with New York Country Jam. “We are already drawing people from Canada, Buffalo, Rochester (and) Kentucky.”
The NY Country Jam runs through the weekend.
Nine national acts will take the stage including Kellie Pickler, Uncle Kracker, Easton Corbin and more.
