HERKIMER, N.Y. (AP) - A central New York woman admits she ran over a 74-year-old man, saying he paid her to do it because he was terminally ill.
Jennifer Riesel of Little Falls pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder Wednesday in Herkimer County Court. The 29-year-old woman said she met with Francis Nelson in a farmer's field last year to plan his death and ran over him last Sept. 27. His bound body was found the next morning.
Riesel is expected to be sentenced to 16 years in prison on March 7.
Herkimer County Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Carpenter said Nelson's family was in court and agreed with the final disposition.
Police said Nelson offered to pay Riesel $180,000 to kill him, and that he had made similar requests to several other people.
