Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A place for comfort and shelter for families with seriously ill children has reached a milestone.

With the help of donations, the roof of Syracuse’s newest Ronald McDonald House is now in place. Construction was accelerated by the mild winter and Executive Director Beth Trunfio says she is pleased with the progress.

“We’re overwhelmed with the progress that’s been made,” Trunfio said. “It has been just a broad-based community effort of in kind donations, monetary donations, and community support to get to the point where we are today to raise the roof and be thinking in six months that we’ll be opening our doors to meet so many families.”

The facility is on-schedule to be completed by summer.
