Cortland (WSYR-TV) – The New York Jets are set to land in Central New York today.
The NFL training camp will be set up on the SUNY Cortland campus for three weeks.
The city of Cortland and the campus are in the final stages of making sure everything from the Student Union to the grounds are ready for "Gang Green."
The process begins in the spring, and it never quite ends.
“It’s pretty much all Jets all the time, we're just getting ready,” said Kevin Pristash with SUNY Cortland. “They build their offices, put them together in the Student Union, rig up their computers, and hook up their phones.”
Within the last few days, the school set up more bleachers in order to accommodate the hundreds of fans who will be lining the field. The summer training camp in 2012 brought in more than $5 million dollars to Cortland County.
The team is expected to arrive around 3 p.m. on Thursday. The community will hold a welcoming party on Main Street in Cortland. Head Coach Rex Ryan is expected to address the Gang Green crowd like in years past.
The team's first practice is on Friday. The Jets will hold 15 public practices this summer, four more than last year.
