Warners (WSYR-TV) - A woman from Warners received a new lease on life, and some freedom too, thanks to the generous efforts of volunteers from a Central New York construction company.

On Wednesday afternoon, a small celebration was held on Judy Aguirre's new backyard deck.  The deck, which overlooks her backyard, was a gift from the McClurg Construction company.

The company was approached by Judy's friends. Last year, Judy fell down some basement stairs of her new home, breaking her neck and leaving the young mother of two boys paralyzed.

After learning about her plight, Scott McClurg decided to take action, offering his company and workers to design and build the deck.

More than a dozen local companies chipped in with supplies and donations.

Judy expressed her appreciation at this afternoon's gathering, and Scott McClurg said it was his honor, in hopes that other people will step forward to help those in need.
