Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – When the Syracuse Chiefs open their season on Friday, April 12, their familiar home will have a new name: NBT Bank Stadium.

The sign on Alliance Bank stadium soon be replaced with a sign bearing the letters NBT.

Norwich-based NBT Bank’s acquisition of Alliance Bank locations in the Syracuse area was finalized several days ago.

A change in ownership among local banks reached the baseball stadium on Wednesday when local officials joined Syracuse Chiefs representatives and bank executives to announce the new name.

The stadium was built in 1997 as P&C Stadium. Alliance Bank purchased the naming rights in 2005. NBT assumed a 20-year contract for the rights.
