SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - NewsChannel 9 was recognized Saturday night at the Syracuse Press Club Awards.
Every year the club recognizes the best in Internet, television and radio in Syracuse.
NewsChannel 9 was honored in a number of categories.
Special Program (1st place): "The Lion King" by photographer Jim Beebe and Tim Fox.
Spot News (1st place): NewsChannel 9’s coverage of the flooding in September of 2011.
Investigative Story (2nd place): “Targeting Gang Violence” by Christie Casciano and photographer Jack Estabrook.
Video Journalism (1st and 2nd place): Work done by Keith Kobland, Phil Rankin, Luke Eggleston, Liz McDougall and Jim Beebe
Video Essay (1st place): “Winter Day at the Zoo" by photographer Scott Irving.
Sports Show (2nd place): "SU NCAA Tournament Preview" by Lindsay Liquori, Sal Maneen and Steve Infanti.
Regularly Scheduled Local Newscast (2nd place): The newscast that aired the night Bernie Fine was fired from his coaching position at Syracuse University.
