Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse man accused of gunning down Rodney Maddux in front of the B&B Lounge on South Avenue was arraigned on Thursday morning.
Syracuse Police say Maddux was trying to break up a fight outside of the night spot when he was shot and killed.
25-year-old Anthony Hopper is being held without bail after entering a not guilty plea to charges including murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in Syracuse City Court.
Police announced Hopper’s arrest on Wednesday night
Police credited surveillance video taken from the parking lot behind the lounge and provided to local media as playing a crucial role in locating and arresting Hopper.
“I’ve got to tell you, had it not been for that, I don't believe that we would've been able to solve this as quickly as we had been," said Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler.
Hopper is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 30.
