Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – While AAA is offering free rides to New Year’s party goers in many cities this weekend, Syracuse is not among them.

“Tipsy Tow” is a service AAA has made available to members and non-members in cities largely throughout the western US.  AAA of Central New York says it has never offered the service.

In Central New York, party-goers will need to plan ahead either by using a designated driver or paying for a taxi cab.

Several years ago, “I’m Smart CNY” filed for bankruptcy. The service drove home people who were too drunk to drive, for a fee. The service’s former owner Tim Hunt says it was difficult to get enough drivers to meet demand on New Year’s Eve.
