No one hurt in Van Buren house fire

Van Buren (WSYR-TV) -- Eight fire departments were called to the scene of a house fire on New Route 31 near Connors Roads in the town of Van Buren Wednesday night.

Fire officials at the scene say an elderly couple was able to escape the burning home and no one was hurt.

Officials believe the fire started on the second floor of the home, which suffered serious damage due to the blaze.

The fire was a challenge for firefighters who had a hard time getting water to the scene.

An investigation into what sparked the blaze is ongoing.
