North Side residents hoping new store will replace Pond Street Wegmans

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse residents in the neighborhoods surrounding the Pond Street Wegmans are holding onto hope that a new store will occupy the location once it has been vacated.

The company is closing the historic store – the first Wegmans in its Syracuse Division – at the end of June.

Syracuse City Hall has been reaching out to other grocers in an effort to draw in a new store.

All of the employees at the Pond Street location have been offered positions at other stores within the company.
