Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Frightened neighbors on Syracuse’s North Side held an emergency neighborhood watch meeting Monday night.

McChesney Park neighbors told stories of being attacked by middle school kids. One woman said she was ambushed by a group of kids while walking in her neighborhood.

“All I tried to do was grab the girl. That's when all hell broke loose, fists flying, blood pouring out of my daughter's nose,” said a concerned North Side resident.

“They’re coming on the property, they’re fighting and attacking. There are other issues too, drinking in the park and taking drugs and we need to stop this,” said another concerned resident Sandra Ostrander.

Syracuse Police at Monday’s meeting promised more patrols at night and a closer watch on school kids when they get out of school in the afternoon.
