One dead, two in serious condition after head-on collision on Rt. 31 in Clay
Clay (WSYR-TV) – The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says that one person is dead and two people are in serious condition after a head-on collision on Route 31 in the town of Clay on Thursday.
61-year-old Joseph Sokolic of Clay has died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
The accident occurred near the intersection with Morgan Road at about 12:20 p.m.
Sokolic and the two others had to be extricated and transported to Upstate University Hospital were the two surviving victims remain in serious condition according to deputies.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident, but reports that witnesses say that a 2005 Dodge Caravan operated by Sokolic traveling eastbound on Route 31 crossed into the westbound lane and into the path of a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse.
No tickets have been issued at this time.
