Oneida County (WSYR-TV) -- Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says he doesn’t support any part of New York State’s SAFE Act that "restricts the law-abiding citizens of Oneida County."

Maciol says that redefining the term “assault weapon” and passing limits on ammunition capacity will not help prevent crime. He’s calling on lawmakers to revise those restrictions.

Maciol goes on to say, “I consider the manner that the New York SAFE Act was deliberated and passed to be irresponsible and a disservice to the citizens of New York State” and encourages people to contact lawmakers to give their input on the new legislation.
