Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Oneida Daily Dispatch is moving to a three-day printing cycle in February, the paper announced on its website Wednesday morning.

The paper will be printed on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday beginning Feb. 3.

The schedule will include adding an expanded, six-section Sunday edition, according to the post. The Oneida Daily Dispatch has never had a Sunday edition before.

According to the paper, a larger emphasis will be placed on its digital components – including its website and social media.

The paper says its reporters will post news digitally as it happens.

They say that while their subscription base has declined – the paper has 7,000 subscribers – their web traffic continues to grow.

They believe the rise in web traffic reflects consumers’ increasing desire for news on demand.

In addition, they hope the new emphasis will liberate newsroom resources and enable them to pursue a more local angle.

The paper says they will not lay off any employees.
