Oneida (WSYR-TV) - Due to high water levels, Oneida Lake, the Oneida River and the Seneca River are all closed to boaters until further notice. The Onondaga and Oswego County Sheriffs' Offices announced the decision Tuesday afternoon.

Water levels have continued to rise and pose a risk of potential flooding in several areas. The Sheriff's Office says the decision to close the waterways to boaters is an effort to minimize shoreline damage and to safeguard boaters from unseen dangers.

Additionally, a "No Wake Advisory" remains in effect for the shore lines of all lakes and reservoirs until further notice. The Sheriff’s Office Aviation and Navigation Units will continue monitoring the situation and work with Onondaga County’s Department of Emergency Management to reassess the advisory.
