Oneida Mayor dies after battling cancer
ONEIDA, NY (WSYR-TV) - The Deputy Mayor confirms Donald Hudson passed away Friday.
Hudson had been battling Cancer.
He was sworn in as mayor in January after a lengthy service in the Oneida Fire Department. Deputy Mayor Donald Smith says Hudson served as a firefighter for years before eventually becoming Chief.
Smith says he will always remember Hudson's commitment and dedication to public service.
He tells us city laws say that the deputy mayor take over for the remainder of the mayor's term. Smith says he will serve as mayor until December of 2013.
