Oneida stretch of highway named after fallen Marine
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A stretch of highway has been dedicated to a fallen Marine in Madison County.
Route 365-A in the city of Oneida has been named in honor of Lance Corporal Jeremy Lasher.
The Oneida High School graduate died in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan.
Lasher's family including his wife and son, along with his siblings were in attendance at the special sign unveiling ceremony on Friday.
His sister spoke of the importance of memorials honoring service men and women.
“Now the thousands who drive this road will hopefully take a moment to reflect on and remember not just Jeremy, but the many others that sacrifice in service just mean so much to all of us,” said Jennifer Lasher.
Friday’s unveiling had a special meaning, as Lasher's sister is getting married on Saturday.
