Onondaga (WSYR-TV) -- The Onondaga Town Board agreed to ban drilling for oil and natural gas in their town Monday evening.

The unanimous vote comes as discussions about hydrofracking are heating up across the state. Some want to tap natural gas resources, while others are concerned about its health impacts and beyond.

Meantime, Monday was the deadline for outside experts to review the health impacts of fracking, but not everyone is on board.

Elected officials from across New York State sent a letter to Governor Cuomo, expressing their concerns about a new health review of hydrofracking – among them Syracuse City Council Chair Kathleen Joy and Councilwoman Jean Kessner.

The group says experts did not have enough time to do their review properly.
