Oswego County lawmakers approve resolution against new Safe Act
Oswego (WSYR-TV) -- In a unanimous vote (25-0), the Oswego County Legislature on Thursday approved a resolution against certain parts of the state's new gun laws.
The measure says the new Safe Act has a severe impact on guns that are used for safe recreation. It argues that state lawmakers didn’t have enough time to review it before it was passed.
The Oswego County Legislature says it will send a copy of the resolution to President Obama and Governor Andrew Cuomo.
It also encourages local lawmakers to hold public hearings to address gun violence and asks representatives of Oswego County to submit written opinions about the Safe Act.
