OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV/AP) - A Central New York man who helped organize a candlelight vigil for three friends killed in a car crash during a night of drinking has been charged with drunken driving.

Police say Matthew Haws was charged with driving while intoxicated late Wednesday. The arrest came just hours after he organized and attended a vigil for the three men who died the previous night when their car crashed into a utility pole at an Oswego intersection. Two other men in the car were injured.

Investigators say the car was going 81 mph in a 30-mph zone when it crashed.

Police have said they're looking into whether alcohol was a factor in causing the crash.
