Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - It's the end of an era in East Syracuse as Sacks department store will be closing.
The West Manlius Street store has been a fixture in Central New York for 92 years.
Bryan Sacks, the current owner and great grandchild of the store's founder Joseph Sacks says he’s sad that he has to close the doors.
“I didn't know my great grandfather, but I knew my great aunts and uncles who ran the store everyday. It’s hard that we can't keep it going, keep their legacy going,” Sacks explained. “We just can’t do the prices that Walmart does.”
The store's final day of business has not officially been announced at this time, but Sacks says they will stay open as long as they have items in stock.
They expect the items to last at least four weeks.
