Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - State Park Police are teaming up with other agencies starting Friday to crack down on drunk driving. The initiative is called "Over the Limit, Under Arrest."

The initiative will target park-goers trying to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Commissioner of State Parks says this time of year is incredibly busy at parks across the state, and their first priority is keeping visitors safe.

"The probability of people coming into our part and recreating involving alcohol is pretty good. You do get family groups that come in recreate and that to involve alcohol," said Sgt. Thomas McDonald. "We just ask that people who do come in make correct judgment calls. We just want people to return home safely."

Park goers will see sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols at parks statewide between now and Labor Day.
