(WSYR-TV) -- Part of an Oneida highway will be named after Deputy Kurt Wyman, who was shot and killed during a stand off one year ago.

The state Senate agreed to name a portion of State Route 12B, from College Street in Clinton to State Route 315 in Deansboro, be named the “Deputy Kurt Wyman Memorial Highway. The bill now moves to the Assembly.

Thursday will mark the one year anniversary of his death. A remembrance ceremony is planned in front of the law enforcement building on Judd Road in Oriskany at 8 a.m.
