Pepper spray discharged at fraternity party near SU
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Two people were sent to the hospital after being exposed to pepper spray at a fraternity party near Syracuse University.
Police were called to Tau Kappa Epsilon at 747 Comstock Avenue around 11:45 p.m. on Friday night.
Witnesses told police someone discharged pepper spray near the front entrance of the building, but police haven't been able to track down the culprit.
Syracuse University Public Safety Chief Anthony Callisto said he believes the person acted alone. Callisto said the case is being treated as a criminal investigation.
The fraternity had hired security guards for it's halloween party. It's not clear how many people were exposed to the pepper spray. The two people taken to the hospital have been released.
Callisto said the case has been referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities at Syracuse University, as the investigation continues.
