West Monroe (WSYR-TV) - Oswego Co. Sheriff’s Deputies say black ice may have been responsible for a deadly accident involving a New York State Parole Officer. The victim’s vehicle went off the road, slamming into a tree.

The crash happened just after 7am Thursday morning along County Route 11 near Smith Road in the Town of West Monroe.

The driver, identified as Jeffrey Woolson of Pulaski, was driving southbound when he lost control causing the car to go off the road, striking a tree.  Woolson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woolson had worked as a New York State Parole Officer for the last four years. Before that, he spent 14 years as a Oswego County Probation Officer.
