Police: Man left toddler unattended in car for nearly 30 minutes

New Hartford (WSYR-TV) -- New Hartford Police say a 56-year-old Utica man left his a two-year-old child unattended inside a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot for about 30 minutes on Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene at around 10:30 a.m. and were told by employees that a child was left unattended inside a vehicle in the parking lot. While speaking with employees, police say a man, identified as Walter R. Park, approached the vehicle. An investigation revealed that Park had left the child in the car while he went shopping.

Park has since been charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
