TROY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an upstate New York woman stabbed her daughter in the back with a kitchen knife after the teenager refused to wash the dishes.

Police in Troy tell local media outlets that Caroline Mingo and her daughter were arguing Sunday night when the teen turned to walk out of the kitchen. Official say that's when Mingo picked up a knife and used it to stab her daughter in the back.

The girl walked to a nearby firehouse, where firefighters took her to Albany Medical Center Hospital. Police say her injuries aren't serious.

Mingo was charged with felony assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon. It couldn't be determined if she had a lawyer.

Mingo's age and the daughter's age weren't released by police.
