Police: Syracuse man in serious condition after shooting

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting that left one man hospitalized Tuesday afternoon.

At around 1:30 p.m., police say 20-year-old Alex Massa, of Syracuse, was shot on the front porch at 177 Rich Street.

Massa suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach and was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The suspect has been described as a light-skinned black male, in his early 20s, wearing a dark colored flannel shirt, light blue jeans, black boots and a black baseball cap.

Detectives are still trying to determine what motivated the shooting.
