Police: Teen burglary suspect caught fleeing from crime scene

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police caught a burglary suspect fleeing from the scene of the crime just before six Tuesday night.

Police say they were responding to a burglary alarm at the North Area Athletic Club on Pond Street when the observed the 14-year-old male suspect exit the building and run.

A brief foot pursuit led officers to the suspect in the 1100 block of North Salina Street where the suspect was taken into custody.

The teen has been charged with felony burglary in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

He has been turned over to a family member and will appear in family court at a later date. The suspect’s name will not be released due to his age.
