SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police have charged a woman after they say she drove the wrong way on Interstate 81 North early Saturday morning.

Police say 44-year-old Linda Grimaldi of Chittenango was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-81 near Hiawatha Boulevard at about 2:45 a.m.

Shortly after 911 dispatchers received a call about what was happening, police say Grimaldi crashed into a taxi headed northbound on the highway near Adams Street.

The taxi driver and his two passengers were not injured.

Grimaldi was taken to Upstate University Hospital and was treated for a broken leg.

She is charged with Driving the Wrong Way on a One-Way, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Intoxicated.

Grimaldi has been released on traffic tickets and will appear in court at a later date.
